Terai turmoil and travel to Nepal

February 19th, 2008

Update 2 (February 21): The strikes are still continuing. But there are some signs of progress.

Update 1 : The indefinite strikes in the terai region could be called off. If this materializes, travel by road in the terai region should not be difficult.

The southern plains and eastern hills of Nepal are affected by strikes. Normal life in these regions has been badly affected due to the strikes. Life in Kathmandu and other hilly cities has been difficult due to the lack of petroleum products. The government is trying its best to ensure the supply of the petroleum products.

For travelers coming through air to Kathmandu, there is very little problem. Travelers planning to use the roads are advised to either travel through the air or put off their plans for the moment.
