Prince Harry to launch a trip to the Everest Base Camp
November 4th, 2008
Prince Harry will be part of a trip, Exercise Khumbu Challenge, to the Everest Base Camp for the wounded members of the British armed forces in October and November 2009. The members included in the teams will be drawn from the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines. The soldiers wounded in the wars in Iraq and Afganishtan will be included in the team to enable them to return to the military environment.
An experienced team will undertake different challenges in the Khumbu region including climbing Mount Ama Dablam.
What would be the impact of such a high profile visit to the Everest region? Will it raise the profile of the region or will it make the trekking in the peak season even more crowded for the regular visitors? Can the infra structures in the region cope such a large scale event? What do you think? We will be glad to know your views.
